ROSETTI C.124 LNG CARGO UNIT 86M
The vessel is under construction at Rosetti Marino who received the order from the towage specialist Rimorchiatori Riuniti Panfido for the construction of an LNG SBBT unit; the SBBT (semi-ballastable barge transporter) unit has been designed by the Spanish engineering and technology group Sener.
This project is co-funded by the European Union through the Poseidon MED II program and it is a combination of an LNG fueled tractor tug (powered unit) and an LNG bunkering non-propelled barge (cargo unit).
The barge will have dimensions about 86 x 27 m and a storage capacity of 4,000 cubic meters of LNG and 1,000 cubic meters of marine diesel oil (MDO), and it will be used for bunkering service.
The lateral propulsion and maneuvering of the barge will be easy thanks by an electric lateral propulsion also with steering function done by two electric jet thrusters supplied by AUXILIA/RTN and produced by Veth.
The vessel will be the first of its kind to be built by an Italian shipyard and will also be the first such vessel in the Mediterranean.
