The COLUMBUS SPORT 130’ HYBRID, a 40 meters yacht all-aluminium launched by Shipyard Palumbo in 2013, is considered a new concept that links high technology with respect for marine environment.
In particular, the most environmental friendly feature is the hybrid system, composed by two electric engines connected to the REINTJES special hybrid gearboxes. This allows to have a navigation for a maximum speed of 7.5 knots with main engines turned off and just two generators running. The vessel can reach a top speed of 22 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 15 knots. For this system, RTN has supplied the REINTJES gearboxes with special PTO/PTI system for hybrid operation.
